Nonprofit Farm Rescue receives worldwide coverage on CNN

Farm Rescue founder Bill Gross featured as CNN Hero

JAMESTOWN, N.D., June 26, 2008 - Farm Rescue, a nonprofit organization founded to help farm families that have experienced a major injury, illness or natural disaster is receiving worldwide coverage on CNN, on air and online.

CNN will feature Bill Gross, UPS Airlines captain and founder of Farm Rescue as a CNN Hero in a segment that searches for everyday people changing the world.  Watch CNN and visit www.cnn.com/heroes to view coverage between June 26 – June 28. The segment is scheduled to premiere Thursday, June 26th during Larry King Live. There is always a possibility of breaking news which could cause the segment to be moved to a later date.

Farm Rescue has provided free planting or harvesting assistance to 59 farm families since its inception in 2006. The nonprofit has been called a “godsend” by farm families recovering from crises in the upper Midwest.  

“Farm Rescue is doing what is right by helping people who have been stricken by crises through no fault of their own,” said Gross, founder and president of Farm Rescue. “We operate the organization with the help from 50 good-hearted volunteers -- they are the heart and soul of Farm Rescue."

According to Gross, the majority of volunteers live in the Midwest, but a growing number are coming from other areas of the United States. "Visit our website to view our volunteers and sponsors," Gross added. "They are the heroes of Farm Rescue -- the people and businesses that make it all possible.” 

More than 100 companies have joined on as Farm Rescue sponsors. RDO Equipment Company sponsors John Deere equipment, while other companies and foundations support Farm Rescue with funding. Donations from the public are requested to help the organization assist more farm families.

Since 2006, Farm Rescue has provided assistance to families that have experienced a variety of injuries, illnesses and natural disasters. The cases include: burns, cornea replacement, spinal cord injuries, severed arms, broken legs, broken ribs, fractured vertebrae, head injuries, heart surgery, cancer treatments, dialysis, back surgery, organ transplants, coma recover, hip replacement, animal handling accidents, severe auto accidents, stroke recovery, other life threatening injuries and natural disasters.
