Farm Rescue Now Accepting Applications for Spring Planting

Nonprofit will strive to help a larger number of family farmers in 2007

JAMESTOWN, N.D., January 3, 2007 — Farm Rescue, a nonprofit organization founded to help North Dakota farmers in need, has begun accepting applications for the 2007 planting season.  The deadline is March 15.  The organization also announced its intention to increase the number of farmers who will receive assistance as weather and funding permit.

Farm Rescue's mission is to provide planting and harvesting assistance to family farmers who have experienced a major illness, injury or act of nature which has caused financial hardship.

“The changing demographic of rural families is evident all around us. There are fewer family farms today and the number of children per family also has decreased.  These trends are making it increasingly difficult for neighbors to help one another during times of crisis. A formal organization that can help family farmers when a crisis strikes is seen by many as an emerging need in rural communities. Farm Rescue, along with its volunteers and sponsors, is proud to be addressing this need in rural communities.” said founder and president of Farm Rescue, Bill Gross.

Farm Rescue will have a booth with personnel available to answer questions at upcoming farm shows in Jamestown (01/09 – 01/10), Fargo (01/17) and Minot (01/24 – 01/26).
